Mookie Betts is having quite the busy week. He’s playing in the World Series, is nominated for a Gold Glove, he’s about to be American League MVP, and he’s feeding America.
First, Mookie’s stolen base in Game 1 won the country free tacos on November 1, courtesy of Taco Bell. Whether or not Brock Holt decides to indulge, this doesn’t change the fact that anyone can go into a Taco Bell in this country and get themselves some hot food.
And on Wednesday night, after going 3-for-4 in Game 2 of the World Series, Mookie decided to win at the game of life in the best way. He delivered dozens of trays of hot food to the homeless who gather outside of the Boston Library.
An old friend of mine from my nightclub days in Boston, Anto Avedissian of 6one7 Productions, broke the news on his Instagram stories.
What can I say about this man and this team? I love how many of these guys are great human beings, doing whatever they can to make Boston a better place. From Brock Holt, captain of the Jimmy Fund, to JBJ, captain of Red Sox Scholars, to Mookie, feeding the homeless on a freezing Boston night after a World Series game. These players are the reason I love the Red Sox so much, and why I’m so proud to be a fan; they go above and beyond in every possible way.
