JJ Watt Offers to Pay for the Funerals of Friday’s Santa Fe High School Shooting

After missing most of the last two NFL seasons, JJ Watt will hopefully have an epic comeback this fall. But as focused as the Texans defensive end is on returning to the game, he’s been even more focused on taking care of Texas.

After Friday’s shooting at Santa Fe High School left 10 dead and 10 injured, the school administration was notified that JJ Watt will be personally paying for the victims’ funerals. Nine students and a teacher died in what is the 22nd school shooting of 2018.  That’s roughly one school shooting per week on school grounds across America.

Watt’s gesture is immensely kind, though not surprising given his actions over the past year. He famously raised over $37 million dollars for Hurricane Harvey relief last summer. His original goal had been $200K. Watt has been seriously charitably active since college, but this year, he’s truly gone above and beyond for the people of Texas.
